Family Place Library

In 2014 the Mengle Memorial Library became a Family Place Library.  A Family Place Library transforms the library into a developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children and their families.  The project locally is known as “One, two, three…grow with me!”

The focus for the young is on relaxing, playing, and sharing.  Play is more than just fun for them; it is a way for them to learn. Through play, children learn skills to control their bodies, develop communication and thinking skills, concentrate and follow through, and learn how to relate to others. These skills are fundamental for learning how to read later.  For adults it is a time for parents or caregivers to have one-on–one time with their child and receive insights into their physical, social, emotional and cognitive world.
